Egypt has one of the longest histories, having been continuously inhabited since the 10th millennium BC. Monuments like the Giza pyramids and Great Sphinx were constructed by its ancient civilization and are quite popular attractions as is the Red Sea. There is something for everyone in Egypt and that includes children. Read on for ideas of things to do for family travel in Egypt.
Why your kids will love Egypt
Kids are generally content to play on the beach, construct the odd sandcastle and test out the warm inviting sea. But sometimes they need a little more stimulation. Here are three great attractions your offspring will be more than happy to visit.
Dolphin World, Hurghada
If the kids are desperate to see dolphins then a trip to Dolphin World will beat bobbing around on a boat hoping to spot one. Obviously it is lovely to see these very friendly creatures in their natural habitat, but every parent knows that instant gratification equals happy children. As well as performances by dolphins, you’ll also be treated to tricks by playful sea lions and walruses.
Cleo Park, Sham El Sheik
Its tagline is ‘The Pharaonic Water Park’ which along with its name Cleo Park should enlighten you to the fact that a) it is a water park and b) it has an ancient Egyptian theme. I’m guessing your kids won’t be too bothered about the theme but more excited about the hours of endless water fun on offer as a popular tourist haven.
This is a welcome relief both in terms of cooling down in the hot temperatures and entertaining the children. What can you and your family expect to find at this huge water park? Well fantastic slides and rides as well as a more sedate lazy river. Have a go on the Scorpion Attack river ride, the Lost Pyramid and the Queen’s Trophy for maximum thrills. Keep it mellow with a gentle splash with the little ones in their own pool complete with little sides and plenty of games. Take time out on the terraces and in the relaxing spa tub.
Red Sea Aquarium, Hurghada
This is a great opportunity to put names to all of those vibrantly coloured fish that inhabit Egypt’s Red Sea. And don’t worry you don’t need to be fluent in Arabic as the information is also in English. This knowledge will come in handy should you decide to take in some snorkeling or that boat trip.
Why you will love Egypt
First, happy kids equal happy parents. And second, you’ll love the extensive range of all-inclusive and cheap vacation deals available to keep the costs low and the enjoyment high.
